Alfred Vickers senior 1768-1868 was a largely self taught topographical painter who exhibited over one hundred and twenty-five pictures at the Royal Academy.
His works are held in many public galleries in the United Kingdom.
This watercolour picture is of Dover seen from the heights of the famous Dover Castle.
His son Alfred Gomersal Vickers was also a painter.
