Florence May Asher 1888-1977. She attended the Royal Acadeny Schools from 1913 to 1918 winning a silver medal for painting from life and also the Landseer Prize.  

Asher produced figures and landscapes in oils, etchings and aquatints. Exhibited at many of the leading galleries, including the Royal Academy (1922-23), the Royal Society of British Artists and the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris in 1926.

She was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1926. In the same year she also exhibited with the Society of Women Artists in an exhibition entitled “Eleven Painters and Sculptures” along with Rosalie Emslie, Ethel Walker, Hooper Rowe and others. Exhibited with the New Autumn Group.

Exhibited works included: Otford Mount, The Conspirator, Nude Figure, Rhythm and In The Terra.

Florence May Asher lived variously at Sevenoaks in Kent and then at Reigate and Petersfield with the artist Rosalie Emslie.
