Claude Bendall was a painter of figural subjects and portraits in watercolours, gouache and oils.

A promising musician and artist he studied under the Polish pianist Paderewski and upon being given a choice by his father chose to pursue art as a career.

Bendall studied at the Sorbonne 1908-1910 and served for the duration of the first world war in the army.

H exhibited at the Walker Gallery from 1920-1925, the Royal Academy from 1943 and the New English Arts Club 1944-1957.

Under Sir Alfred Munnings' Presidency of the Royal Academy Bendall's portrait of his wife Barbara "Reminiscences" was purchased for the nation,

As well as being famed for paintings of gypsy life in Ireland Bendall painted the landlord of the Bull public house at Wrotham in Kent, Trooping the Colour and this picture of the Coronation Procession of Queen Elizabeth II arriving at Westminster Abbey.
