A self portrait bronze bust of Brigadier George Davey (1898-1983) CB, CBE, DSO.

Brigadier Davey was not just a professional soldier but also a writer, painter and sculptor who exhibited widely from the RWS to the Paris Salon.

He attended Byam Shaw School of Art from 1959 - 1962 after he left the army following his recall to the Colours during the Cyprus Emergency of 1956.

The Imperial War Museum has several of Brigadier Davey's paintings and two bronze busts by him of Admiral of The Fleet Sir Algernon Willis.

The National Archives also holds audio recordings of his wartime experiences from the British Military Mission to the French High Command in 1039 to his command of the allied land forces in the Adriatic against the enemy in Yugoslavia and Albania 1944-1945.
