Frederick Hines was a 19th century artist and illustrator living in Essex and London. The artist Theodore Hines was his son.

Frederick Hines was a member of the Royal Academy, frequently painting watercolours of figures, animals and rural scenes, which he portrayed in a romantic and sensitive style. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and many leading London galleries. He also illustrated many works, including one edition of Goldsmith's 'The Deserted Village', along with Ernest Wilson. 

This watercolour is signed and dated 1907.
