Fred. J. van Rossum du Chatel was a Dutch painter and son of the genre painter Jan Hendrik van Rossum du Chatel from whom he received his early training before attending the Hague Academy of Art.
He painted in the Hague School style with influences of Impressionism.
du Chatel received much acclaim in his life, winning a medal at the 1889 World's Fair in Paris and selling his art abroad especially to the U.S.A.
is work is held at the Geementemuseum in The Hague and The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
