The Bath of Psyche engraving after Frederic , Lord Leighton President of The Royal Academy (1830 - 1896)
The female subject was based on the Greek goddess of the soul, Psyche. She is standing gently near a column while removing the transparent fabric that flows from her arms to her toes. The picture epitomises the love story of Cupid and Psyche.
This is an early print published by The Art Reproduction Co. Ltd of Plough Court following the exhibition of this painting in 1890.
