Henry John Johnson often referred to as "Harry" was like David Cox snr, James John Hill and the Lines family of artists was one of the rich seam of artists that Birmingham produced in the 19th century.
Infact he studied under Samuel Lines father of Frederick Lines.
Johnson travelled extensively in southern Europe, North Africa, Asia Minor and Wales where he painted with David Cox of the Birmingham school.
