Richard Westall was chiefly known for his landscapes and pictures of rural life.
He exhibited at chiefly at the Royal Academy. It is said of his work that for sheer decoration and pleasure to the eye that no British rural painter has ever excelled him.
It is therefore no surprise that Westall's pictures are to be found in collections from the V&A to the Guildhall Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and National Galleries of Ireland.
Summer Storm is a work executed in watercolours, is signed in monogramme and dated 1805.
