William Palmer Robins trained for two years as an architect under Sir Bannister Fletcher and then went to St. Martin's School of Art.

He was taught etching by Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of art.

During the Great War he enlisted into The Artists Rifles and served in France.

Robins' subjects were mainly landscapes and harbour scenes where he laid emphasis on details of trees and buildings/
