William Tatton Winter (British artist 1855 - 1928): admired for his atmospheric watercolours Tatton Winter was also an etcher and painter in oils.

This picture painted in the early 1920s is still in its original frame from the Museum Galleries at Drury Lane and Piccadilly and with the name of the original purchaser: Anne Turnbull.

He received recognition from both Queen Victoria and Queen Mary.

Although he was born in Ashton-under-Lyne William Tatton Winter seems to have become an adopted son of Reigate, Surrey where he eventually settled down after leaving Carshalton.
