Henry Charles Fox was a British artist working through the last decades of the 19th century and into the early 20th century.
From his home in Richmond on Thames he travelled the Home Counties capturing the change in rural life being affected by industrialization and the exodus of country folk to the cities and the war in France.
This watercolour shows a farmer returning along a bridal way leading his pack horse while he rides another.
It is signed and dated 1918.
